#IDGxWGG
Last year marked the 11th anniversary of the Working Group on Girls (WGG) International Day of the Girl (IDG) Summit and Girls Speak Out. The IDG Summit, created by WGG, brings together girls and organizations that support them to celebrate the International Day of the Girl—a moment when girl advocates take center stage at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber.
The year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action and its groundbreaking Section L, which was the first international instrument to recognize the inequalities faced by girls and lay out a roadmap for the full realization of their rights.
This is a crucial moment to advance our mission and ensure that girls’ voices are heard on a global scale. By collaborating, we harness our collective resources to create a dynamic platform that amplifies girls’ voices and advances their human rights. Over the past decade, girls have stepped into leadership roles, advocating not only for themselves but also for the rights of others.
As we commemorate International Day of the Girl (IDG) 2025, we affirm that progress for girls must be led by girls. Under the theme,“We are here: Bold, Diverse, and Unstoppable– Demanding Action for Girls’ Rights,” this year’s Girls Speak Out will highlight both the challenges girls face and the leadership, resilience, and solutions they bring forward.
The 11 Days of Action Campaign that runs from October 1st – October 11th will amplify the voices of girl activists and address critical issues concerning girls’ rights. Each day of the campaign will focus on a different theme or area of concern promoted across the social media platform. Join Us for IDG’s #11DaysofAction and together, we can change the world.
