Welcome to Day 9 of the #11DaysofAction, sponsored by Alice Paul Institute and Bella Abzug Leadership Institute!
The Bella Abzug Leadership Institute will be sharing videos and stories of girls on Instagram (@AbzugInstitute) from 10-11 using the hashtags #baligirlslead and #balichicasalante. We invite you to repost and tell us how you are a leader of tomorrow and today!
Then from 11-12 on Twitter, we’ll be speaking with @alicepaulinstit about how the empower girls through #ordinaryequality. Join the conversation and share your story.
Here’s a little bit more about each of the organizations:
The mission of the Alice Paul Institute is to honor the legacy of Alice Paul’s work for gender equality through education and leadership development. The Alice Paul Institute is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey at Alice Paul’s birthplace, Paulsdale. API furthers the legacy of Alice Paul and her life’s work for gender equality, and also takes a leadership role in bringing recognition to organizations and historic sites that honor women. The Alice Paul Institute furthers leadership in the community with programs like the Girls Leadership Council. The goal of the Girls Leadership Council is to promote independent thinking and educate girls on women’s and girls’ issues. The girls are encouraged to engage in discussion and contribute to the growth of each other on topics in a non-competitive all-female space. Paulsdale provides a space where girls can safely discuss their opinions and ideas with other informed, independent young women.
The mission of The Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI) is to inspire young women and girls to become effective, dynamic and visionary 21st century leaders as well as active and creative participants in civic, political, corporate and community life. BALI works with low-income and under-served young women and girls who are 13-24 years old and reside and or go to school in New York City and the tri-state area. BALI’s signature programs consist of an intensive summer leadership and debate training program, year-round in school and after school leadership and debate training programs, and one day debate seminars and competitions during the school year as well as ongoing individualized mentoring. These programs provide the skills set and the social-emotional learning needed from the current generation to instill knowledge, confidence, and empowerment in our trainees, all qualities which enable them, all middle school, high school and college trainees to date, to excel in their schools, internships, jobs, and their communities. All of our programs are provided for free to our trainees.
