The Loretto Community has its roots in the state of Kentucky in the United States, where the Congregation of the Sisters of Loretto at the Foot of the Cross was established in 1812. Our founders’ vision emphasized providing young girls with a high-quality education, a commitment upheld for generations through the founding and operation of dozens of primary schools, academies, and colleges.  Loretto’s educational legacy also extends to the countries of Bolivia, China, Guatemala, and Pakistan, and we actively advocate for girls’ rights at the United Nations. Our work in an interfaith context involves creating programs, crafting statements, social media communications, and introducing high school students to the UN’s pivotal work on gender equality and the rights of women and girls.

Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur

With Hearts as wide as the world https://www.sndden.org/

“We are called to listen to the mourning of our fragmented world, of those impoverished by the growing divide between rich and poor and of the sexually exploited, trafficked, marginalized and abused women and children – especially girls.”

The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, founded by Julie Billiart in 1804, are deeply committed to promoting God’s goodness, focusing on marginalized communities, particularly girls. They operate across seventeen countries, empowering impoverished individuals and combatting unjust systems. Their mission revolves around three core pillars: educating girls to enhance their quality of life, providing resources for personal and financial development, and offering mentorship and support as girls pursue their goals. Through their commitment to education, they have witnessed the transformative potential of education, enabling impoverished girls to lead fulfilling lives. They aspire for girls to enhance their standard of living and cultivate a strong social consciousness of uplifting others within their communities.

AHAM Education

AHAM Education (Art of Happiness and Mindfulness / Academy of the Heart and Mind) is a not-for-profit social investment initiative whose mission is to empower 1,000,000 youth and underserved individuals in the Americas by 2025 with evidence-based heart-mind tools that cultivate Presence, Positivity, and Peace for personal, societal and planetary well-being. As an UN-ECOSOC accredited organization, our Global Advocacy and Action Team for the Commission on the Status of Women focuses on elevating and catalyzing the collective wisdom, work, and walk of like-minded female change agents in the Americas toward meeting and reframing the Sustainable Development Goals for the benefit of all. Our intentions are:

  • to create a measure of well-being that is gender-informed encompassing physical, mental, emotional, financial, environmental, and spiritual health,
  • to transform gender well-being through mindfulness / mind-body and nature-centered healing courses and practice toolkits designed for women and girls’ needs, and
  • to disseminate and normalize culturally-diverse gender narratives in the US Latin America and the Caribbean.
