Camilla, age 17
What is it like to be a girl like you where you live? As a girl like me, I almost never let other girls down even when they are feeling blue. I try to have a positive impact on younger girls because I want to be there for them and I want to be their role model of how a great girl should be and how she should act. Add to that, I try to have a bigger positive impact on the community because I believe every girl should help to clean the community and to take care of the community that is around them. It is a challenge for me because I get the chance to meet younger girls who choose to become a girl scout. Being a girl scout is merely a choice, they can even be a role model without being a girl scout. It means to be a girl where I live is to make lifelong friends, have adventures with friends, and to make the world a better place. When I had surgery on my 17thbirthday, even when I was down, I knew my friends were there supporting me, helping me, even though they were not there physically, I knew that they were there spiritually. And that is what very good friends do, it was hard for me because I don’t think that I’ll ever get another chance to ever make the wonderful friends that I have made over the years and I feel like I’ll never get this far without my friends.
