“INVESTING IN GIRLSRIGHTS: OUR LEADERSHIP AND WELL-BEING”, reminds me of Youth Day celebrated in the month of June. This day will always be a reminder of our young students who together decided to march and take a firm and positive stand on their rights.

This gesture still lives on today and will continue to be celebrated each year from generation to generation for as long as change is needed. Because we are also humans and girls also deserve rights students fought for our rights to EDUCATION.

Till today there are girls in the world that is not allowed to be educated as society believes that girls are supposed to stay home to do the cleaning, washing, and cooking in the house. Leaving boys to attend school and to become educated.

In my society I have experienced that young girls smoke dagga/using drugs and drinking alcohol which leads to them leaving school and becoming a “dropout”. This problem can also lead these young girls to become teenage mothers all of these being extremely negative and unhealthy.

I believe my voice can stop this hazard killing our generation. I would also like to encourage us as girls to unite and embrace our talents on speaking out, because we are the tools to break our barriers
